Item Properties - Notification Page

Sometimes it's useful to have a record of windows that PTFB Pro has handled. For example, if you're getting annoying error reports from a program, you can have PTFB Pro dismiss them quickly, but still record the error text each time. That way you can get on with your work, but still have enough information to troubleshoot the problem later on.

When PTFB Pro handles a target window, you can have it take any/all of the following actions:

Send Email

If you have access to an outgoing SMTP server (whether it's on your network, or available through your persistent internet connection) you have PTFB Pro send you an email each time the target is handled.

You can set the subject line for the email, include prompt text collected from the target window, and attach a screenshot of the target window.

The format of the screenshot (if any) is set for all targets via the PTFB Pro Configuration property sheet, as are the details of the outgoing email server. If you tick "Send Email" but haven't yet entered your SMTP server details, you'll be prompted to do so now. Bear in mind that disabling email notifications in the PTFB Pro Configuration property sheet will prevent any emails going out, regardless of individual target settings.

Write To Log

PTFB Pro creates a folder on you computer for storing its text log and screenshots. The location of this folder is set in the PTFB Pro Configuration property sheet. If you select "Write To Log" an entry will be made in the text log each time PTFB Pro handles the target window. Optionally, you can have PTFB Pro take a screenshot (referencing it in the log entry) and include the target's prompt text in the log entry.

As with emails, no logging will occur for any targets if the "Enable Logging" option is turned off in the PTFB Pro Configuration sheet.

Run Script or Program

If you give PTFB Pro a command (similar to a command you might enter into the Windows "Run" box, or in a Command Prompt window), it will run it shortly after the target fires.

To help you compose the command, you can drag files into the "Cmd Line" edit box, or use the Browse facility. Click the "Test Now" button to check that you've got the command right.

Note: When you drag files into the "Cmd Line" edit box they will be appended to the current contents.
